Women in the area sought opportunities to connect with others who valued preserving America’s Revolutionary heritage while contributing meaningfully to their communities. This growing enthusiasm led to the planning and formation of a new DAR chapter centered in Lehi, Utah.

Building a Community of Members

Throughout late 2019 and early 2020, informational gatherings and recruitment efforts were held at local libraries and genealogy centers, attracting both current DAR members and women newly exploring their lineage and eligibility. These early meetings helped shape the vision of the chapter and fostered a strong sense of camaraderie among prospective members.

As interest continued to grow, members worked together to establish leadership, secure meeting space, and select a chapter name that reflected Utah’s historic role in communication and westward expansion. The name Pony Express was chosen in honor of this legacy.

Overcoming Challenges During the Pandemic

In early 2020, the COVID‑19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges, requiring a shift from in‑person gatherings to virtual meetings. Despite these obstacles, the organizing members remained committed to moving forward. The chapter’s organizing meeting was held online in May 2020, allowing members to safely come together and formally establish the chapter.

Official Formation and Ongoing Mission

In June 2020, the Pony Express Chapter, NSDAR, was officially confirmed with a strong group of organizing members. Since its founding, the chapter has remained dedicated to the DAR mission of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Members actively support community programs, honor veterans and active‑duty service members, encourage historical research, and inspire future generations to appreciate America’s founding principles.

The Pony Express Chapter, NSDAR, continues to grow, welcoming new members and building on the legacy of service, friendship, and historical stewardship that inspired its creation.

The Pony Express Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) was established to serve women in northern Utah County who share a passion for history, patriotism, education, and service.
