In July 1776, their efforts culminated in the birth of a new nation\u2014the United States of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patriots came from all walks of life. Some served in local militias or enlisted in the Continental Army. Others worked as sailors, spies, or civilian leaders. Whether they lived in bustling cities or quiet towns, each played a vital role\u2014on the battlefield or behind the scenes\u2014in shaping the future of a free and independent America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is There a Patriot in Your Family Tree?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) offers free <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dar.org\/research\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dar.org\/research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">genealogical resources<\/a> to help you explore your ancestry and discover if you have a American Revolutionary War Patriot in your lineage.
