Honoring Our Patriots

Battle of Long Island — Brooklyn, New York — August 27, 1776.

What is a Patriot?

Patriots lived in the thirteen colonies that rejected British Rule.  In July of 1776, the United States of America declared itself as an independent nation.  Some patriots served in militias, while others enlisted with the Continental Army; some came from big cities and others from small towns; some were soldiers, sailors or spies, while others were civilian officials or behind-the-scenes supporters.

Is there a Patriot in your family tree?

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) provides a free Genealogical Research System to aid in genealogical research and to assist with the DAR membership process.
