Our chapter is guided by a dedicated team of volunteers committed to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Meet the Spirit of America Executive Board officers serving for the 2026–2028 term:
Luana joined the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2014, following decades of experience as a professional genealogist and lineage researcher. She fell in love with
history early on, living with her grandmother and hearing stories of her ancestors. She is a charter member of the Spirit of America chapter and currently serves the chapter as chapter Regent. At the state level, Luana has served as the Utah State Registrar and now serves as State Regent and member of the State Application Team (SAT), a state-level group of expert genealogical volunteers who assist with reviewing applications. She has a strong educational background in business management-finance and has a B.A. in Family History, as well as a master’s degree in library & information science. Luana has been married forty-three years and is the mother of four adult children. She and her husband love to travel, and she enjoys reading, crafting, gardening, and researching herbal medicine.
My name is Jacqueline Jeanne Brooks Johnson. I have officially been a DAR member in the Spirit of America chapter for a little over a year. In addition to my DAR activities, I enjoy many outdoor activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, camping, mountain biking, and SCUBA diving. I love sports such as football, equestrian events, and watching my grandson play lacrosse. I retired on December 31, 2023, from a long career in the financial industry where I worked in many areas from stock trading to corporate training to executive vice president of human resources. After retiring, I had time for new passions like traveling and genealogy. The latter of which helped me realize another lifelong dream of being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Through my research, I learned of my Scottish heritage (I’m a member of Clan MacGregor and the newsletter editor for the American Clan Gregor Society). I also learned that President James Monroe is my 8th cousin through my great-great-grandmother on my dad’s side (which links me back to Clan Munro). My patriot, Thomas Edwards, provided supplies during the Revolutionary War. His great grandfather was Joseph Edward’s, Sr., also known, as “The Fort Builder” because in 1755 he built a fort on his property at Capon Bridge, Virginia at the direction of George Washington (who also did the survey of the land). Fort Edwards was a defensive fort during the French and Indian wars. While the original fort is no longer standing, there is a visitor center there with lots of history to share. I intend to continue my genealogical work, hopefully with a little help from my friends.
Staci has been a member of DAR since July 2025. She lived about 20 minutes away from the Old North Bridge in MA, where the Revolution began and has many fond memories of the Revolutionary reenactments in the Boston area. She has been married for 37 years, has 3 adult children, and 4 small grandchildren who are the loves of her life. Some of the activities that she enjoys are: quilting/sewing, family history, lake kayaking, reading, and camping. She worked for Lehi City for 10 years in the Recreation Department and retired in December 2024. Staci honestly loves people and her personal faith is strong. Her sincere hope is to continue to foster a supportive, caring, environment and a sense of belonging in our Spirit of America chapter. She looks forward to serving and getting to know each one of you better. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to her if she can be of assistance in any way.
It wasn’t until I retired that I found time to research the patriots in my tree and apply for membership in the DAR. I was verified two years ago and have found the experience of DAR membership truly life-enhancing – from the opportunities to serve, to the friendships, to being part of an organization with such a rich and inspiring history. I’ve served as Chairman of the Lineage Research Committee and Chairman of the State Conference Shoppes. I’ve completed the Members Course, GEP I, II and VIII, and several New Horizons modules.
Based on my background, I think I could serve best in the office of Treasurer. I earned my MBA from Georgia State University, and my career was focused on data analytics. I gained knowledge of banking and finance in my degree program and in my last position as VP of Customer Experience at Zions Bank.
I love history and genealogy. When I’m not researching my ancestors, I love to read biographies and play the piano. I volunteer with the AARP and Best Friends Animal Society and sing in the Riverton City Christmas choir as well as the upcoming America 250 Celebration Concert. I’ve been married for 50 years to a brilliant research engineer.
I am delighted to introduce myself as a new member of the DAR, officially admitted on July 5, 2025—just after Independence Day. The experience was made even more meaningful when my 91-year-old mother was admitted the same day. I proudly trace my lineage to my patriot ancestor, Private Aaron Sperry of New Haven, Connecticut, who served in Colonel William Shepard’s 4th Regiment. After 41 years as an elementary teacher, administrator, and academic coach, I recently retired, having especially loved teaching American history. I am also a devoted genealogist and earned a second bachelor’s degree from BYU–Idaho in Advanced Family History Research in 2025. Helping others discover and preserve their family stories brings me great joy. My greatest blessings are my five adult children and twelve grandchildren. In retirement, I continue to teach, mentor, and serve in my community and at the Jordan River Temple. I find additional peace as I work in my vegetable garden, grow flowers, and raise chickens. I am honored to be part of this remarkable organization and look forward to learning, serving, and connecting with all of you.
I was first introduced to DAR while attending RootsTech in 2011. As a mother of three young boys, the timing was not opportune. Years later, I came across a journal kept by my great-great-grandfather, Zerah Pulsipher. He documented that his father and grandfather, John and David Pulsipher, fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Recognizing the need to honor my ancestor’s legacy by joining the Daughters of the American Revolution, I made the decision.
Since joining the DAR in 2020, I have served as Chapter Regent, Vice Regent, State and Chapter Chair of the Flag of the United States of America committee, and State and Chapter Chair of Constitution Week. Currently, I am serving as the Treasurer of the State Officers Club. I have completed the Member’s Course, Committee Leader’s Course, and am actively working on the New Horizons course. Membership has provided me with the opportunity to actively contribute to my community, celebrate my admiration for America, and honor the legacy of my patriots who fought for this great nation.
In addition to my love of family history, I enjoy various activities such as walking, spin biking, hiking, traveling, gardening, reading, British period dramas, napping, cheering for Dodger Baseball, and Diet Coke. My favorite holiday is the Fourth of July.
My journey with the DAR began with a desire to honor the memory of my grandmother, who was a devoted member. After an inspiring conversation at the DAR booth during RootsTech last year, I knew it was the right time to join and strive toward becoming a better woman through service. I am currently pursuing a degree in family history research, and when I am not studying genealogy, I can often be found at the church bench practicing the organ for our services. Professionally, I hold an associate degree in graphic design, which I am eager to utilize as your Correspondence Secretary. I look forward to serving our chapter by managing our newsletter, emails, and Facebook content to keep our members connected and inspired by our shared heritage and the legacy of my patriot ancestor, Corporal Timothy Starr, Jr.
Jackie Coleman joined DAR in 2006. As historian, Jackie will keep a history of our chapter meetings, service projects, and events by taking photos and minutes. She will also serve as a general member of the board.
I joined DAR in another state in 2019 and attended one meeting before Covid hit. Several months later, my husband and I moved here to be close to children and grandchildren. Photography is one of my hobbies, especially capturing the beauty of flowers and nature. Doing family history research is enjoyable for me and I like to read and to try my hand at watercolor painting and weaving. I enjoy hiking with my husband.
All the service that DAR provides is inspiring, and it is a privilege to take part in it. Serving with DAR is a great way to honor our country and our ancestors who served in the Revolutionary War. I am the historian/librarian from 2024-2026. From 2022-2024 I was the State Magazine Chair.
